The Tearoom

Whortleberry House was originally built as a fruit & veg shop with living accommodation around the middle of the 19th century. From 1923 – 1999 it was owned by the Westcott family.

Mr. Westcott paid between 4d & 6d a quart for whortleberries collected from the local pickers. They were packed into punnets in the sheds behind the tearoom & dispatched either to London or the Midlands to be used in the food industry or as a dye for the RAF uniforms.

In 1999 Whortleberry House was converted into the Tearoom it is today. The tearoom is open all year offering an extensive menu to suit all palates. You can be assured of a friendly courteous welcome and excellent service.

The table clothes, bone china cups and teapots, décor and relaxing background music all go to complement the homemade food and the wide range of drinks on offer.
