Something sweet:
Pam bakes each morning delights to make mouths water. The scones are light and made with butter and are served with either strawberry, raspberry or whortleberry jam. Her ginger scones are very popular. Cakes include all the old favourites Coffee & Walnut, Carrot, Date & Walnut, Chocolate, Ginger etc but Pam is always trying out new recipies. Various Tortes, T-breads and Pies can be seen on display. In addition to the small tray bakes there are always at least five cakes to choose from. But do not expect the same cake on your return visit as Pam gets bored and is experimenting all the time.
Something savoury:
For a small treat as a change to the crumpets and T-cakes try the savoury scones made with various cheeses, olives or herbs.
The light meals include jacket potatoes, homemade quiche, scrambled free range eggs, a ploughman with Exmoor Blue Cheese and a selection of sandwiches made from freshly cut chunky brown or white farmhouse bread.
Something to drink:
Only loose leaf tea is served. The house tea is from local producer “D J Miles” specially blended for the soft water in Porlock. Other teas include Assam , Darjeeling , Earl Grey , Lapsang Souchong , Green Tea and Rooibos.
If coffee is your tipple, a cafetiere is on offer in five strengths. There is also a range of Fruit Infusions and Herbal Infusions.
